Present: Mary Farwell, Chair; Mary Leger, Secretary; Mac
Broderick, Treasurer; Barbara Davis; Tammy Hooker; Heather Shumway,
Director
Secretary's Report: Approved and filed
Treasurer's Report: Approved and filed
Director's Report: Attached
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
- Accounting/Year end budgeting
- HS and MB reported that the books are just about ready to
close.
- Engineering for HVAC phase 2
- MF, ML and HS met with John Karpinski and Doug St Pierre to
go over plans so that we would be familiar with the future work
as the job will be going up for bid soon. MF will arrange for
payment of IES invoice of $12,950 from Hooksett Library HVAC
trust Fund. This is for engineering services related to the
creation of the detailed plans for phase 2.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Election of officers
- MF as Chairperson, MB as Grant Writer, ML as Secretary, BD
as Treasurer, TH will focus on other issues that will arise.
All positions voted on and accepted.
- Michael Sorel has been hired by the Board of trustees as a
consultant on land issues potentially affecting the
library.
- Grant Opportunities
- HS has two ideas. Basic level audio based language courses
and ESOL. MB will write the request for the Walmart Grant.
Books for Babies is ready to go per HS. We thought that a good
age to target is 3 months.
- Six Month Goals
- HS has formatted goals for herself covering a wide range of
topics. She will create a timeline for these goals to present
at our next meeting.
- Purchasing Policy
- We need to write a policy for HS to follow as issues arise
to avoid having to contact the board each time she wants to
make a purchase. A dollar amount needs to set as well. MF to
recheck with the town, but thinks the amount for other town
departments is $2000.
- Fence
- HS brought up the fact that the fence in front of the
library be removed as it is in disrepair. We voted to have
Dale remove it.
- Employee Health Insurance
- Cost for health insurance will increase per pay period. HS
feels that the library should pay the difference rather than
pass the cost on to the library employees. The rate increase
went into effect July 1, 2006. MF suggested that we wait until
January 07, see how much it goes up and decide at that time
whether or not to ask the employees to pay the cost out of
pocket. This way, the employees will have prior notification
and all town employees will pay out of pocket for the
increase.
- Meeting Room policy
- MB passed out the Hooksett School District Community use
of School facilities Regulations for everyone to review. A
discussion of the possibility of revising our policy will be
held at next month's trustee meeting.
