John will share his top ‘ten lessons learned’ in planning and visiting twenty-five National Parks.  John covers important details such as lodging, transportation and logistics, activities, safety issues, and budget considerations.  He will also share over 70 images of his travels to a few of favorite parks including Badlands, Bryce, Canyonlands, Glacier, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Zion national park.  John and his wife Jennifer recently completed a three week adventure in Banff, Yoho, and Jasper national parks in Canada and will share a few images and stories, including a close encounter with a mother grizzly and cub.

John grew up in Concord and after college he served as a VISTA Volunteer in Alabama and Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia. Due to an unexpected revolution, he departed from Ethiopia early to spend six months hiking in Kenya and Tanzania. His career path includes work in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors after his masters and doctoral degrees in public health at the Johns Hopkins University. He spent several years in academic positions at Texas and Virginia, international and domestic health care consulting, and leading nonprofit organizations. He recently retired from his position as the Director of External Relations at the UNH College of Health and Human Services.
